What Is Lincs2gether?
Lincs2gether is an ESF (European Social Fund) and Lincolnshire County Council funded project being delivered in partnership between Urban Challenge, Community Lincs, South Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service and VAEL (Voluntary Action East Lindsey). It is a two year project ending in December 2010 aimed at the voluntary and community sector to enable small/medium organisations to deliver on public sector projects and services.

Lincs2gether offers training and an organisational mentoring scheme to small/medium organisations, enabling them to be in a stronger position to either bid directly for or work in partnership on public sector projects and services.

How Often Is The Training Brochure Produced And What’s Included?
The training brochure is produced on a quarterly basis, and not only includes training offered via the Lincs2gether project, but also some of the additional training that is being offered by the Lincs2gether partner organisations. Please feel free to pass on the training brochure to colleagues.

Some of the training contained within the January - April 2010 brochure is being delivered as a result of funding received from The Really Useful Stuff Handbook project administered by the Healthy Communities Team sitting within Economic Regeneration at Lincolnshire County Council.

Thursday 15th April 2010 10.00 – 12.00 FREE	Introduction to volunteer management with Dianne Slapp If you are considering taking on volunteers, or if you are new to managing them, then this could be the course for you. By the end of the morning, you will have a good overview of the essentials of working with volunteers, including background on support needs, policies and developing volunteering opportunities. Thursday 22nd April 2010 9.30 – 4.30 Lunch provided £10	Emergency first aid in the workplace with a Trainer from L.I.V.E.S. This popular course will take delegates through legislation as well as the essentials of first aid in the workplace. This will be a highly interactive and practical session and each delegate will receive a certificate and a first aid handbook. We will be asking organisations for a £10 contribution per person, on booking a place on this course. Numbers are limited, so please hurry to book a place. This popular course will help to equip you with some essential techniques in becoming more assertive in your dealings with other people and new situations. Tuesday 4th May 2010 10.00-1.00 £10	Risk assessment workshop with Ed Hollamby (from ESH Consultancy) A safe working environment is essential for any organisation. This course will help you get to grips with the whole area of risk management. If this is an area that is new to you, or if you simply want to receive some best practice hints and tips, then this is the session for you. Wednesday 12th May 2010 9.30-2.00 Lunch provided FREE	How to win contracts in the Public Sector with Tony Halifax from Involving Lincs. This is an essential briefing session for CEOs, Boards of Trustees and anyone interested in find out more about the changing landscape of local government funding. Is your organisation well placed to deal with these challenges? This briefing session will enable you to find out more about the tendering process and the difference between grants and contracts, as well as how to put together a business case. It will cover the basics of how to find the right funding programmes, understanding funding criteria and how to write your application to boost your chances of getting the cash you need. Tuesday 25th May 2010 10.00-3.00 Lunch provided FREE	Attracting young people as volunteers with Dianne Slapp from VCS Lincoln This course is aimed at anyone who supports and manages volunteers in organisations currently working with volunteers under the age of 25, or who are keen to attract young people to volunteering roles. We will be considering the potential barriers young people face and how these can be removed. It will be an interactive session, providing creative ideas for the development of volunteering. Wednesday 9th June 2010 10.00-3.00 Lunch provided FREE	Management committees with Dianne Slapp, from VCS Lincoln. This course will help you to find out more about the roles, responsibilities and skills needed for being part of a management committee. We will be looking at the functions of a committee, unpacking some of the jargon and exploring key roles. Thursday 24th June 2010 10.00 – 3.30 Lunch provided FREE	Volunteer management: Recruiting volunteers with Dianne Slapp, from VCS Lincoln. It’s important to get your recruitment strategy for volunteers right from the start. This course will help you to develop effective recruitment methods, consider the types of volunteer roles you will be offering and steer clear of pitfalls.
