NEW YOUTH VOLUNTEERING INITIATIVE LAUNCHED

Lincolnshire's vinvolved youth volunteering programme has launched! vinvolved is a national initiative, which in Lincolnshire, is being headed by the charities Urban Challenge and its West Area Centres, LCVYS and by Lincolnshire County Council.

vinvolved aims to make it easier for young people from across the County to volunteer, by creating a national network of youth experts, innovative projects and volunteering champions.

vinvolved teams are youth experts who champion youth volunteering across England and encourage more community organisations to open their doors to young volunteers. We support young people to find the volunteering opportunities they want. Young people aged 16-25 will be brought together in Youth Action Teams, to champion volunteering locally. Drawn from all walks of life, these ambassadors encourage their peers to volunteer and advise the vinvolved teams and other organisations on youth-led community action.

Our vinvolved team is supported for the next three years by v, the youth volunteering charity as part of V's £75 million National Youth Volunteering Programme.

We would love to hear from you if you are between 16-25 and looking to get involved! We would also like to hear from organisations that would be able to offer young people a volunteering opportunity.

Terry Ryall, v's Chief Executive says this is "....the nation's biggest ever youth action programme, which will channel the energy and enthusiasm of 500,000 young people into helping local people and community projects. So whether it be coaching kids football teams, transforming wasteland into gardens, making films that tackle serious issues or leading music and arts wolkshops for the elderly, vinvolved will give young people a positive role at the heart of our communities."
