I want to volunteer…
Thinking of volunteering? Every year, volunteers in Lincoln donate thousands of hours of their time free of charge to organisations that depend on voluntary support to run their valuable services.
Once you contact us, we will offer you a one-to-one confidential interview with one of our volunteer advisors. Interviews are informal and will help you to learn more about volunteering and the range of opportunities we have available. We will work with you to select an organisation you want to work with. We will contact the organisation on your behalf and pass on your details to them. We will also follow you up within the first month and continue to maintain regular contact with you.
As a Volunteer you have the right to:
- An induction and relevant training
- Adequate support and supervision
- Safe working conditions
- Insurance cover for activities undertaken
- Be treated in accordance with the organisation’s equal opportunities policy
- Have access to a complaints procedure
- Reimbursement of expenses
- A fulfilling and enjoyable volunteering experience where you will develop self confidence, use your abilities, learn new skills, and gain knowledge
- Have Fun!
Support for organisations
We run regular Volunteer Co-ordinator Forums (VCFs) for volunteer hosting organisations across the City. These are themed networking events, incorporating a mix of training, guest speakers and show-case presentations.

We provide support with policy documents and training on volunteering management and key facets of voluntary sector work.
Please contact us, if your organisation would like to take on volunteers. Once registered with us, you will receive regular information, bulletins and flyers for events and training.

- Parents whose children have started school / left home
- Someone with free time to help someone else
What next?
Once you have decided that you would like to volunteer some of your free time, you need to think about what kind of volunteering you would like to do.
Our opportunities range from gardening to befriending, reception work to driving and depending on what your reasons are for volunteering would depend on what opportunity you would chose.
