Ambassador Volunteer Centre for Mentoring and Befriending
We are working in partnership with the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation to promote mentoring and befriending projects across Volunteer Centres in the East Midlands.
Please contact us for more information on mentoring and befriending schemes in the local area.
The Mentoring and Befriending Foundation (MBF) is the national body offering support and information to practitioners and projects working across the befriending and mentoring sector.
As the national stratetic body, MBF also works to influence policy and practice in the sector and across the government.
The MBF has developed a national infrastructure with regional co-ordinators responsible for engaging with and supporting pactitioners in the field, offering support at a local level.
There are two co-ordinators covering the East Midlands, and their contact details are below:
- Val Barritt - 07932 453511
- val.barritt@mandbf.org.uk
MBF can offer:
• Networking and training events
• Opportunities to share good practice
• Advice on setting up or developing a befriending or mentoring scheme
• A wide range of publications and resources
• Guidance and support to help achieve the quality standard for mentoring and befriending – the ‘Approved Provider Standard’
In this area, your co-ordinator is Val Barritt who is already working with a range of projects and organisations across Lincolnshire – including befriending for the elderly, young carers groups and those working within the mental health sector.
Val is also very keen to establish networking opportunities at a local level, so please contact her to let her know if you would be interested.
The MBF website is packed with information and news stories, so please do explore the website and if you have news items or case studies that you would like to share, then get in touch with Val.
